School Professional Center

ADAPP is aware of the profound impact schools and teachers have on the lives of a child; not just on the academic life, but on the social and emotional well being as well. In fact, research shows that positive teacher relationships have been linked to higher grades and a lower probability of engaging in risky behaviors or being suspended. Studies also suggest that having a teacher who gives emotional support as well as instructional support can buffer the risk of early school failure. And, school failure is a risk factor for substance abuse!

Working closely with schools and teachers, ADAPP provides assistance and technical support on a variety of topics and issues.

ADAPP's professional staff is aware of current issues that impact the lives of youth and is trained in and utilizes a variety of programs.

Columbia University Teen Screen: A national mental health and suicide risk screening program dedicated to helping parents find teens with known risk factors for suicide by making voluntary mental health check-ups available to American Families.
