Group Counseling

Using the interactional approach of the Mutual Aid Model of Group work, ADAPP school-based groups emphasize coping and skill development. The model views the participants interaction with their environment, school peers and parents. The group leader, a trained ADAPP staff member, assists youth with developing skills to manage their world and to create the bonds that increase resiliency. This use of peers in group is especially important. Members are encouraged to provide support to each other, to try out new behaviors and to give and receive feedback.
